Semi-integrated dishwashers blends well into kitchen cabinetry and design but the control panel is still visible.  The machine itself will blend in but a semi-integrated dishwasher always means the control panel can be seen.

Stainless steel has a nice modern look but is a hassle to keep clean and in good shape so a semi-integrated dishwasher gives you the look of stainless steel with an elegant control panel with style but far less to maintain and worry about.

The control panels of semi-integrated dishwashers are much smaller than traditional dishwashers.  Less buttons and a display screen make the control panel more about style and less obvious there is a dishwasher.  The button strip of many semi-integrated dishwashers is only a couple inches wide and the knobs are smaller as well.  The main focus of design is to look nice in your kitchen.
